Windy River Cave 2005

Windy River Cave is located on the west side of Cane Creek. It was discovered in 1987 by John Hutchison, who gives the following account of the cave’s discovery and exploration:

On a warm fall afternoon in late 1987, on a solo ridgewalk, I discovered Windy River Cave. The entrance, at first named Cane Creek Cave, is a small opening about 8 feet wide by 3 feet high that gently slopes downward a few feet to a deep pool of water. The entrance is at the base of a small bluff and could easily be passed over, as the opening is not visible until standing up close. - John Hutchison
