20 Dec Roppel Expedition 2013
The 2013 Logsdon River Expedition continues exploration beyond the sump in the Roppel section of the Mammoth Cave System. Sump divers push new leads, pits and bolt climbs and find much more work remains as they continue to push into South Toohey Ridge. A team of sump divers and support crew hauled over 25 bags of gear through Roppel Cave from the Weller entrance to the Logsdon River Sump.
The previous expedition of 2005 confirmed additional leads including bolt climbs and pits. The sump team spent 15 hours on the upstream side of the sump pushing and surveying new leads. The expedition was filmed by Brent “Coop” Cooper. This film is dedicated to his memory.
